In 2016 Shinfield travelled to Compeung for an Artist Residency in Northern Thailand. Human breath, with its repetition and subtle variations as experienced in mediation, is the subject matter of the works made during the residency. Images developed through multiple layers as Shinfield moved through a daily ritual of adding marks. Drawings, paintings and woodcuts on various types of locally sourced Thai paper evolved over this time.
